Can we please not ignore the fact that the OP’s conclusion is entirely valid and important? Yes, racism and sexism are as real as they are bad (though perhaps not as widespread as tumblr seems to think they are) but can we just focus on being KIND to everyone regardless of who they are?

Obsessing over the possible motivation behind another person’s actions or words is entirely pointless and is not going to get us anywhere. You are one person. All you really have control over is what YOU do. All that YOU can do is make sure that you are treating everyone around you with kindness and respect, and encouraging others to do the same.

And to get back to the OP’s point, if you do this ^^^^ you will ALSO be helping to combat racism and sexism without even having to worry about it! Weird how that works out, isn’t it?
